Each chest or box is carefully restored by expert craftsmen and carpenters. All our antique chests and boxes have a history and story of their own and we try to keep as much of their aged character and patina as we can, which means each is unique. Our antique chests and trunks and boxes have starred in several blockbuster films: Tim Burton's Dark Shadows, The Legend Of Tarzan and Disney's Maleficent as well as many TV period dramas. Our wooden storage chests and trunks have also been acquired by museums and educational institutions across the world. We spend a lot of time searching for unusual wooden chests and boxes. Our favourite chests are made from teak. We love wooden boxes that look plain from the outside, but when opened reveal lots of compartments of varying sizes and shapes, even secret compartments. Popular storage chests are made from teak a good tropical hardwood usually found in Burma, Indonesia and India. We also have wooden chests made from oak, rosewood, camphorwood, elm, beech, pine and many more woods. Our expert restorers use traditional tools and techniques to ensure our boxes will last fr another generation. We never over restore a chest so it looks new or as if it has never been used. Historical repair work is very visible, but look part of the storage chest. We minimise the use of new woods, preferring to use wood reclaimed from salavged furniture. Most of our wooden chests have were made using dotail joints , which means they are strongee than simple mortice or butted joints. Teak is a very durable and relatively light-weight wood, that's water and pest resistant. What we like to call a 'super-wood'.
