A stunning vintage Iroko school lab table top which has found its way to Scaramanga from a school laboratory north London England. At the school, naughty school children (over decades of science lessons) scratched and scribed their names and love interests on these hardwood lab table-tops when the teacher wasn't looking.
School Lab Table Top size: W120cm x D60cm x H2.5cm.
Scaramanga has sourced a stack of these school science lab table tops and is offering them as a super stylish upcycling project for your home or retail environment.
We also offer these table-tops as a desk with steel legs.
The African Iroko tops have been pre-prepared - historic chewing-gum removed, the top-surface lightly planed, sanded and waxed. If you are going to use the tops as a kitchen worktop we would recommend you buy a good quality teak oil and use it in place of the 2 layers of wax we apply. Please let us know if you want the top/tops only planed and not waxed.
You can see the before and after results in the photos. The result is a high-quality robust working surface which still retains its highly characteristic school history. You can still see most of the names, scratches, marks and other graffiti making this table-top a wonderful conversation piece.
Iroko and other tropical hardwoods can vary quite widely in colour. The vintage school lab top may show some variation in colour of the planks/staves used to make a single top. Further, some entire boards may be darker or lighter than the ones shown in the photos. If you are ordering several and want them all the same shade/colour please contact us at the time of ordering. The Iroko lab table tops are prepared to order and we are unable to send photos of finished pieces.
