This outstanding large carved wooden ornamental tiger's head has travelled all the way from India. Referencing Indian folk art, these striking display pieces were hand-carved and handpainted many decades ago.

Today, imagine a 'wild' tiger's head wall-mounted (attachment included) or simply displayed on a countertop or shelf. It'll make a great conversation piece for the home or retail environment.
Don't you just love the loveable character and authentic patina?

Historically, the tiger - an apex predator - is seen as a symbol of power and strength (read more info below). Originally this recently-sourced collection of tiger heads would have been used to portray strength and vitality wherever displayed.

Wooden Tiger's Head (Large) size: W26-27cm x D22-30cm x H18-25cm.

Scaramanga also has a collection of smaller old tiger heads.

Each of these tiger heads is different. If you spot one that you must have please let us know and we'll do our best to track it (or a similar one) down if it hasn't already been sold. If you do not inform us in advance a tiger head will be selected at random. No two heads are the same. The head we select may differ from the ones shown in the images.

The heads are sold individually.

In India the tiger is seen as a symbol of power, strength, agility, and grace. It is also deeply revered. So it is no surprise that the Bengal tiger is the national animal of India. In India, tigers are considered to be the “kings of the jungle” and are often worshipped. As far as popularity goes, the tiger is at the top of the list in Indian culture.
In Hinduism, the tiger is seen as a divine creature and is worshipped by many Indian groups. Tigers are seen by Hindus as a symbol of power, strength, courage, good luck and prosperity. The tiger is also a sacred animal in Buddhism and is seen as a protector of the faith.
In Hindu mythology, the tiger is associated with Shiva, the god of destruction. Tigers are also considered to be the vehicles of other gods and goddesses such as Vishnu, Lakshmi, and Durga.
