Authentic, original and large - this innovative item is a vintage printer's tray - a letterpress drawer once used in a printing workshop for storing tiny metal letters for printing presses. It's a large-sized drawer and compliments our smaller sized trays (see the photo to see the size comparison).
Large Printers Letterpress Tray size: W40cm x D91cm x H4cm (dimensions and compartment configuration may vary). We have a smaller size - regular printer's tray
This is a perfect upcycling piece for curio organising and displaying trinkets!
These large letterpress type trays are in their original condition. Lots of character and totally authentic after many decades in a print factory. We have them with uniform small compartments and irregular small and larger spaces.
Today these printer's trays can be used as innovative storage cases, display cases, organizers or wall hangings with multiple compartments...perfect for your personal treasures especially if you have a large collection of small objects! Consider organizing your craft space or children's room with these vintage printing block trays.
As you might expect with these original vintage industrial pieces, there will be some variation in the uniformity of the compartments (we have shown a few examples in the photo images). WE usually have trays with smaller uniform sections / compartments or with irregular compartments (a mix of different sizes). Let us us your preference when ordering.
The 'uniform' trays may not have all the compartments the same size. If you would like a specific type of tray, please request this when ordering. If you don't request either type, we will select a tray to send to you at random.
Scaramanga's original vintage printer's trays are not new or made to look old. They may have some of the dividers missing or broken, uneven edges, marks and scratches on them, which are consistent with their age and original use. The tray's bottom may have gaps between the boards, may be split or cracked and may not be uniform in colour. We feel these add to their character and appeal. Please look at the photos to get an idea of their condition.
The final image shows the 'regular' and 'large' printers' trays.
