A large colourful Indian antique Damchiya chest boasting wonderful handcrafted detail and very distinctive woodworking. Its authentic blue, yellow, green and red colouration makes this piece extremely desirable.

Hand-carved roughly 80-120 years ago in Gujarat, Northern Indian, this traditional Damchiya Cabinet would be a stunning feature piece in your home.

Access is via a couple of front-mounted doors that access its interior.

This item would look great in the bedroom as for linen or clothes storage or perhaps in the living room for displaying your treasures. Imagine this Damichya as a high-profile sideboard or storage cupboard in a modern rustic, retro or contemporary styled interior.

Damchiya size: W129cm x D57cm x H125cm.

Scaramanga has other furniture piece reflecting a similar ornate and brightly coloured aesthetic style. Please contact us or search for further details.

Scaramanga’s old shelving, cabinets and cupboards are not new or made to look old. They may have small marks, scratches and faded paintwork, which are consistent with their age and original use. We feel these add to their character and appeal. Looking for a different chest or cupboard? We stock a large range of antique and vintage storage cupboards and cabinets

Damchiyas or Indian hope chests were originally designed and made to store a bride's dowry or wedding gifts. Often replicated and reproduced to look like this original piece. We've left the time-worn paintwork the way we found it in March. Our team of expert restorers in Rajasthan have simply washed, waxed and fitted a shelf into the main compartment.
