Product Information for Old Rajasthani Chest 769

SOLD Grand old faded green hardwood chest with iron side bands and handles. The chest would have originally been made and initially used with a natural dark wooden finish. At sometime its owners would have painted it blue. Over time the paint has faded to reveal some of the original dark wood. This old chest is from Rajasthan, north west India and is typical of the Rajasthani style of furntiture making with iron edging, large hinges, large leaf-shaped hasp. The top section of the top lifts to open the chest.

Our hardwood chests and trunks are unusual and each differs in size, style, finish and the number of compartments inside them.
This distinctive old chests would make a stunning feature in a living room, bedroom or in a study.

Indian families would have originally used these authentic old wooden chests for storing valuables, notes and records.
