Product Information for Grand Wooden Chest 1014

Large old wooden chest with iron banding and wheels. This is largest wooden chest. Constructed with thick side panels and top with a single large compartment. It would make a grand feature in a living room, hallway or bedroom. This old chest is from Rajasthan, north west India and is typical of the Rajasthani style of furntiture making with iron edging, large hinges, large leaf-shaped hasp and decorative wheels. The top section of the top lifts to open the chest.

Our hardwood chests and trunks are unusual and each differs in size, style, finish and the number of compartments inside them.
This distinctive old chests would make a stunning feature in a living room, bedroom or in a study.

Indian families would have originally used these authentic old wooden chests for storing valuables, notes and records.

Note: This particular chest has a narrow gap showing between the pieces of wood used to make the top panel. These are not cracks are are normal for an old piece of furniture. Our chests are not new or made to look old. They may have small marks and scratches on them, which are consistent with their age and original use. We feel these add to their character and appeal.
