SOLD Original large lime green old wooden chest with a stunningly beautiful hand carved interior, brass handles, bindings, facings, edgings and double hasp. The trunk would have been painted green by its owners, which has faded over time to reveal the inlain brass patterns and designs on the front of the chest.
The lid lifts to reveal the top level with eight compartments of varying sizes with hand carved lids. The inside of the lid has a rack running the length of the chest.
Under the removable tray is the lower level - a single large compartment taking up most of the area of the trunk.
We resisted stripping the paint to reveal the original colour.
Our hardwood chests and trunks are unusual and each differs in size, style, finish and the number of compartments inside them.
They would make a great feature in a living room, bedroom or in a study.
These distinctive old chests would make beautiful jewellery or memory boxes, or a great place to put your valuables.
Indian merchants and families would have originally used these authentic old wooden chests for keeping money, valuables, heirlooms, notes and records.
We also have antique brass padlocks available to complement our old wooden chests and trunks.
