SOLD Stunning antique stationery chest made from a dark tropical hardwood. The lid lifts to reveal a top level with a fold down upper writing slope with a beautiful handcarved letter rack. The main section of the chest features a second writing slope and upper level compartments for storing pens and ink. Below the slope behind and a lift-up draw are two hidden compartments and the lower level main compartment.
Our hardwood chests and trunks are unusual and each differs in size, style, finish and the number of compartments inside them.
These distinctive old chests would make beautiful jewellery or memory boxes or a great place to put your valuables.
They would make a great feature in a living room, bedroom or in a study.
Indian merchants would have originally used these authentic old wooden chests for keeping money, valuables, notes and records.
