SOLD Large old wooden chest with iron banding. Constructed with thick side panels and top with a single large compartment. It would make a grand feature in a living room or bedroom. This old chest is from Rajasthan, north west India and is typical of the Rajasthani style of furntiture making with iron edging, large hinges, large leaf-shaped hasp and small legs. The top section of the top lifts to open the chest.
Our hardwood chests and trunks are unusual and each differs in size, style, finish and the number of compartments inside them.
This distinctive old chests would make a stunning feature in a living room, bedroom or in a study.
Indian families would have originally used these authentic old wooden chests for storing valuables, notes and records.
