Old dome topped pine chest dated 1913 from Germany. The dome top lifts up to expose a deep storage chest, with a side tiller with a lift up lid for the storage of candles and valuables. We were tempted to strip this chest back to the pine, but that would have meant loosing the date, writing and hand painted decoration. So we decided to keep it as it was. Note: this chest has faded / distressed painted edges and panels.
Europe it has has a tapering form that extends to substantial bracket feet. It has large hand-forged iron carrying handles at each end, small iron knob and escutcheon plate.
Our old wooden chests and trunks are unusual and each differs in size, style, finish and the number of compartments inside them.
This distinctive old chests would make a stunning feature in a living room, bedroom or in a study.
We also have antique and new brass padlocks available to complement our old wooden chests and trunks.
