Product Information for Blue Antique Chest 2605

SOLD   Stunning blue antique Indian wooden wedding chest with an inlaid brass front panel and a beautiful hand carved interior, brass handles, bindings, facings, and edgings. The chest would have been painted blue by a previous owner and stripped during its restoration to reveal the teak, some of the blue paint remains, especially on the back panel.
The lid lifts to reveal the top level with eight compartments of varying sizes with carved flower lids. The inside of the lid has a rack running the length of the chest with additinal decorative finishing and a small mirror.
Under the tray is the lower level comprising a single large compartment taking up most of the area of the trunk.

Our hardwood chests and trunks are unusual and each differs in size, style, finish and the number of compartments inside them.
These distinctive old chests would make beautiful jewellery or memory box or a great place to put your valuables.
They would make a great feature in a living room, bedroom or in a study.

Indian families would have originally used these authentic old wooden chests for keeping money, valuables, notes and records.
