Product Information for 18th Century Travelling Trunk 2892
SOLD - Rare antique early 18th century leather travel chest dated 1718.
Of the thousands of our chests this is the oldest trunk / chest we have ever stocked.
The trunk's wooden frame is covered is leather and finished with raised brass stud work along its edges. There are beautiful four petaled flower motifs on the front panel and the date 1718 decorated in studs.
There are two lower drawers (locks not working).
The interior has been lined in old newpaper dated 1848.
Note: this trunk's leather covering is worn away in places and shows signs of historic wood worm. We have not attempted to replace the leather wanting to keep the chest as original as possible. There are no signs of antive wood worm.
