Product Information for Vintage Oak Refectory Dining Table By Ercol

SOLD Authentic classic Ercol vintage solid oak dining table. This refectory style table has been fully restored (striped, sanded, oiled and polished) to its original smooth glory. The elliptical shape is typical for retro furniture from post war Britain. It is hard to find tables like these in such good condition. Ercol re-issued oak tables can sell for more than double the price of this rare table! Chairs not included.

This oak table is not a current Ercol oak dining table, it is an original vintage Ercol oak dining table, but a piece from the 50s or 60s.

Ercol were established in 1920 and went on to pioneer steam bending of larger scale production of bentwood furniture during the war. In 1946  they exhibited their bentwood furniture at the Britain Can Make It exhibition, held at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London. In 1947, the first production-line Windsor chair, and other pieces from the range of Windsor furniture, went on sale. Ercol's mass-produced furniture found a ready market in post-war Britain, which demanded smaller pieces with simpler lines than their chunky pre-war counterparts. Ercol furniture was exhibited at the 1951 Festival of Britain, as it represented the latest style and fashion in furniture design and manufacture.
