SOLD   Old merchant’s chest of drawers with four drawers, turned legs and ring-pull handles. This beautiful chest has been finished with a wonderful decorative lained decoration.
Old chests similar to these can still be seen being used by cross legged merchants and shopkeepers at some of India's oldest street markets - including those at Jodhpur and Jaipur. These chests would make great work desks for artists and designers or children.
 
Our hardwood old desks and chests are unusual and each differs in size, style, finish and the number of compartments inside them.
They would make a great feature in a living room, a bed side cabinet bedroom or ia jewellery chest / box.
These distinctive old desks would make beautiful jewellery or memory boxes or a great place to put your valuables.
Indian merchants would have originally used these authentic old wooden desks for working and keeping money, valuables, heirlooms, notes and records. They can still be seen being used by older merchants in old traditional markets in Rajasthani cities such as Jaipur and Jodhpur.
