Scaramanga's Largest Travel Bag - Large Overlander

Some Scaramanga customers may not be aware that we’ve been designing and making leather satchels and travel bags for several years now. In fact we were one of a very small number of stores selling their own handmade leather satchels almost five years ago.

We’ve used this knowledge, valuable customer feedback and years of experience to bring a wider variety of quality classically styled leather satchels, messenger bags and vintage inspired travel bags, so if you like classic British design and traditional craftsmanship then you’ll love Scaramanga’s leather satchels, messenger bags and travel bags.

The great thing about Scaramanga leather bags is not only the wide range of choice, but also the versatility, so that there really is something to suit everyone. Of course, our leather bags are great for the normal uses: school, college, work, a day-to-day bag, a laptop bag or a weekend bag. This time, I thought I’d look at things from the other side: from our view here at the Scaramanga office. In the same way customers receive orders from apparently out of the blue, we spend our days in the office packing up chests, furniture and bags and sending them out into the world with no idea where or who they go to.

But we never get to see any of this; we never get to see what each piece becomes to an individual and how it comes to be fitted it in with their personal style.

To this end, I set out to find an example of how a customer has taken our pieces and used them in their home. So we invited Herve Moreaux to tell us about what he’s bought from us, what he did with the furniture and to share some of his thoughts on interior design and style…

Behind The Scenes: The Scaramanga Office

Gateside Mills, Gateside

Gateside Mills, Gateside - The Scaramanga Store.

Online shopping is the 21st century internet equivalent of the microwave meal: quick, convenient and fuss-free. Of course, it can never replace the real ‘day out with the girls’ shopping experience, but is there not also a new-found thrill in the suspense of hearing the mail drop through your letter box and hoping that your Amazon/eBay/Topshop order has arrived? But that’s just the thing: you click a button on your computer screen at home, and then a few days later it drops through your mailbox… What happens in between? Read the rest of this entry »
